THE QUIGLEY SHOOTING ASSOCIATION.

AUGUST QUIGLEY COMPETITION.

Saturday 18th August, the heatwave was taking a holiday and the day was at least dry but made quite chilly by the ubiquitous snaking Diggle wind which made an extra layer mandatory.

The firers assembled at 400yds for stage 1, which continued our customary format of a fouling shot followed by two sighters and fifteen shots to score at the Quigley bucket. Steve Maris took the lead with 42 points with Darren Wallis close behind on 39 points. Long time member Mike Davenport brought along his son Ralph who put up a great show by placing third with 37 points. After lunch, stage 2 was a reprise of stage 1 only this time on the buffalo silhouette at 600 yds. Top scorer on this stage Darren Wallis with 56 points, followed by Keith Buckley and Richard Healey with 37 points each.

The final result was as follows.

Pos.            Shooter.                                  Score.

1.                Darren Wallis                         95

2.                Eric Todd                               68

3.                Richard Healey                      67

Everyone is now looking forward to good weather for the remaining two Quigley shoots to be run in October.
