THE QUIGLEY SHOOTING ASSOCIATION.

OCTOBER QUIGLEY COMPETITION.

Saturday 14th October, finally, a full day without rain. The infamous "Diggle Breeze" didn’t let us down and hung around to harass the firers. As there are no wind flags on the prairie we don't provide wind flags on the range for Quigley events, so the wind caught out many firers at least once and caused more than the odd "flyer". The 400yd Quigley target is most unforgiving and a miss on the 5 zone (which is only 2 ½ minutes wide and 4 minutes high) by a fraction of an inch can result in a one or a zero score.

As usual, Stage 1 at 400 yds, consisted of a fouling shot, two sighters, and fifteen shots to score at the Quigley bucket. Only two firers scored in the forties, Darren Wallis 47 and Bob Marsh 42 both shooting .45/90s.

After lunch, stage 2 was the buffalo silhouette at 600 yds and more of the same weather meant little change in the order of things. Darren scored 51to finish with 98 points, with Bob scoring 42 to finish with 84.
